Enforcing the Law

Hello fellow readers. I am here yet again for my weekly post along with my IC members.

I did my research and i found an article on the Malay Mail website. It says "Selangor Mulling New Cyber Cafes Law. This article was posted in June last year means in 2009. State executive councillor for Local Government, Research and Study Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew was arguing about childrens and teenagers who are loitering at cyber cafes until after midnight.

He advised the local councils to strictly enforced guidelines on cyber cafes in Selangor which is that children under the age of 12 should not be allowed into cyber cafes when night falls. He said that they have to step up enforcement to solve the problem of having under age children staying up untill 10pm at cyber cafes.

He also reminded the cyber cafes owners that their licenses can be revoked if they fail in following the regulations. Liu added that it is the local councils duty to ensure that all cyber cafes follow the guidelines.

The Malay Mail contacted the Petaling Jaya Council deputy president Puasa Md Taib and he said that they are making an effort to ensure that cyber cafes are to operate untill 1am only. That is however is a hard task because out of 300 cyber cafes, only 37 have their business licences. Puasa also mentioned that the problem of the teenagers loitering does not fall under their juridiction, it is the responsibility of the Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor or the Welfare Service Department.

One reader read the article and commented that it is better for the teenagers to be playing computer games rather than lepakking outside with all the 'mat rempits' and gangsters. And he/she also commented that for some working adults and students, cyber cafe is a "healthy and safe recreational place". This reader added that if they wanted to limit the cyber cafe operation hours to 1am, then why not do the same to the 24 hours convenient store to stop the teenagers from buying alcohol.

In my opinion, this reader is right in a way, i mean it better to be killing zombies and monsters in game rather than killing yourself in gangfights, illegal races and such nonsense right or not people? What do you think? Any opinion just put comment on my post okay?

THANK YOU and SEE YOU AGAIN
