If you run a cyber cafe or other gaming venue, Valve makes it easy for you to bring their games to your customers. Joining the Valve Cyber Cafe Program is the only authorized way to offer their games to your customers. When you sign up and become a member of Valve Cyber Cafe program, you will get benefits like listed below:

All commercial licensing of Valve software is done directly with Valve Corporation. Subscription fees are due on a quarterly basis; however, with the advance purchase of a one-year subscription, cafe owners will receive a 10% discount.

Software purchased from retail stores is not licensed for commercial use such as Cyber Cafe and Club House. If you operate a Cyber Cafe or Club House, Valve Cyber Cafe Program is the legal way to obtain a commercial license and offer Valve's games to your customers.

Games: Valve Cyber Cafe Program subscribers receive access to many of the newly released games on Steam as long as you maintain an active subscription.

Steam Account Protection: Valve's Steam for Cafes Program technology does not use Steam Accounts so Cafe owners no longer have to worry about banned or stolen accounts.

CafeAdministration Server (CAS): The Cafe Administration Server will allow cafes to locally update individual computers on a cafes local area network (reducing bandwidth needs for updates), allow individual users with personal Steam accounts to access their account on any computer station located at a cyber cafe, and manage game subscriptions on a concurrent user basis.

Automatic Updates Delivered Via Steam: All of your game subscriptions will be kept up-to-date with the latest versions using Steam's distribution system. New content, bug fixes, and other items which have traditionally been distributed as "patches" will be handled automatically.

Access to Cafe Technical Support: Members receive technical support services through their Cafe Support Site, for Steam and any game-related problems.

Free Tournament License: Free Tournament License when you hold tournaments at your café - the Tournament License itself is free and gives you the authority to run a tournament. (If you do not have enough café subscriptions to cover your event, temporary tournament subscriptions are available for a small administration fee.)

In my opinion, it is a good deal for the cafes owner

Change of image of Internet Cafe Selangor

Link to us: http://sn.im/v01ln

Hi everyone, today I will like to talk about change image of Internet Café. Internet Café in Selangor was planned to change the design to a better environment. So that, the problem of illegal gambling and truancy among the students will be soon overcome it more effectively.

According from The Star online article, “we are looking at making the cafes like a library,” said Bronson Chua, Selangor Cyber Owners Association President and its member were still finalizing details regarding the new look.

The new features proposed to add were having a mini post office and a lounge area in the Internet Cafés. The reason of these new features is because it can make the Internet Café look more to library and customers can spend their quality time at there. Moreover, having a mini post office is to let the public help to keep on eye in the Internet Cafes, so that there will not have any illegal action or any truancy students. Co-operation between the local government, police as well as the Chua’s association is needed to stem the spread of illegal cybercafes and the social problems brought about by them.

“We will be presenting the layout plan to Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim. We will proceed with the changes once we get the green light,” he said. They will also going to work with the Youth Ministry’s Remaja Cyber group to disseminate information, organise cyber sports and competitions for everyone.

This is the example of the new design layout of the Internet Café.

Weekly Poll Result 7

Link to us: http://sn.im/v01l6

Good evening to all my readers and this is Jason Goh here and I'm going to continue my next weekly poll result on the previous post. The poll question that we posted last week is regarding about 'In your experience, what's your main purpose or expectation when you enter I.C?'.

The result and respond from our participant are all basically equal because there is relation between all the expectation when a customer or user enters I.C. The choices of answers are gaming, comfort, toilet, speed connection and design of I.C.

33% for each responded gaming purposes, comfort and design of I.C. It's obvious that user and customer visits I.C for gaming purposes. Mostly are youngsters who visits I.C and even adults also do visit however they're also for gaming purposes.

Thus, everyone do expect for comfortable environment, with a comfortable environment, customer feels comfortable to do their work or play their game. The mains are the coldness of the environment, chair, food and beverage plays big role in it.

For the third same percentage is design of I.C. Why do design of I.C play role? Usually this will occur to a new opening I.C. An I.C who just start business usually will come up with a promotion of cheaper price or free gaming and the deign must be set nicely such as position of the tables and chairs, wallpaper and counter.

Last but not least is the 2 result that nobody supported are toilet and speed connection. User or customer do not purposely visit I.C for their toilets. However for connection speed, customer do not also purposely visit I.C to evaluate the connection speed. Main thing is that if the internet is working than the customer is fine.

That's all for the result this week. Thank You to all our readers who participated the poll quiz and hope to get good feedback from you guys.

No let-up in action against illegal cybercafes

Link to us: http://sn.im/v01jv

Good day everyone. Today I will like to share the topic of illegal Internet Cafés. As the illegal Internet Cafés are increasing, the enforcement teams are strongly increasing their attention towards this issue.

According to the article from The Star online on Monday, July 20, 2009, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is constantly carrying out operations and monitoring cyber cafes in the city. From January, the MBPJ has carried out 217 operations, where 173 premises were sealed and 120 were slapped with compounds.

According from the MBPJ public relations officer, Zainun Zakaria, she stated that the Internet Cafés should only operate on the ground floor and dark tinted glasses are not allowed to put on it. This is because police could not see clearly what is the activities happened in the Internet Café if the glasses are tinted black and can see the Internet Café easier on the ground floor then upper floor. So that the Internet Café will not has a chance to do the illegal activities such as online gambling and others.

For those Internet Cafés which operating the online gambling session, they usually used codes and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to allow regular customers to come in. “Like in other areas, there is a trend for gambling but sometimes it is difficult to identify,” she said, adding that the city council was working together with the police to tackle the problem.

Under the MBPJ, there are more than 100 licensed Internet Café and over 200 unlicensed Internet Café are operating the business. When they come under the Cyber Centre and Cyber Cafe Bylaw (MBPJ) 2007, Gambling in cyber cafes violates the regulation.

Weekly Poll Post 6

Link to us: http://sn.im/v02v7

Good evening to all my fellow readers, as usual that I will be posting our latest weekly poll result. The question that I posted up on our weekly poll post quiz section is I gave choices of answers and the question stated is ' Based on the following games, which game you usually play in I.C'. The choices given are Dota, Left4Dead2, Call Of Duty 4, Counter Strike and lastly Online Games. All this games are common and famous in I.C.

At the moment and also as usual Dota is the most famous game all around the world and played by youngsters till the elders. This game also can be very well addictive to most of the players. 27% stated that they will visit I.C and commonly will target to play Dota. Dota is a game where can be played by 10 players and is all about defending their towers. It is 5 VS 5 game and it can be played either by LAN or internet. However on the latest game just came out and also famous before is also Left4Dead however now it came up with a new version of Left4Dead2. It has upgrade lots of new function and very user friendly. This game can be played up to 8 players and it can be 4 VS 4 as 4 in survivors and another 4 are zombies. It also can be played either in LAN or internet however it is well recommended to play by LAN. Thats why players have to visit I.C for this particular game. For the internet section, they have to use GARENA to play using the internet. This same goes to Dota. the percentage of this 2 games are the same with the same purposes.

Hence for another 2 games are also in a same percentage as much up to 18%. Most players also play Counter Strike and Online Games. Basically online games can also be played at home, however players intend to go to I.C either with the reason of slow or no internet connection or joining with other players face to face. They also can play side by side as easier to communicate. Thus, counter strike and Left4Dead are in the same company, however counter strike requires player to play in it. They do have computers to play with but it gets more interesting playing with other players as a challenge. Counter Strike is based on terrorism and counter terrorist and also support up to many players, as usual up to 32 players. Its best recommend to play LAN but it also can be played in GARENA. After finishing my analysis I will explain about GARENA.

Last but not least is Call of Duty 4. It comes with different version from version 1 to the latest is 4. Call of Duty is also similar as counter strike but more onto the army field and also relates with guns. It can be played as usual LAN and internet but usually player play in LAN and in I.C because not many people are able to play this alone at home. Its very much recommended LAN.

Well before I leave, Garena is an application that supports this games to be played online and many players use it when they are at home. Its also something relates with social media where you are able to meet other players and be friends.

Thats all for today and my post, both of us are getting tired. Well hope this helps more understanding on the players behavior in I.C and which games are played the most.

Internet Cafe Ban Call Angered Chinese Hackers

Link to us: http://sn.im/v01hs

This incident happens in China. It is an example of a cyber terrorism.

What happened was that a lady, Yan Qi, who is a member of the China legislative advisory body said that she wanted to propose an international ban on private cyber cafes that exist. Following her announcement, hackers all over china got angered that they launch an attack on her, not physical attack but cyber attack.

The hackers went online and paralysed the website of her restaurant chain. Yan, whose business is based in the southwest city of Chongqing, blamed internet cafes for social ill ragings from school truancy and petty theft to video game addiction. Yan was caught quoted "Many serious problems are linked to Internet cafes and businesspeople usually ignore their social responsibilities". She also said that desperate diseases must have drastic cures.

Yan was planning to propose the ban at the annual gathering of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which began Wednesday, suggesting that state-run cybercafes should be set up. Following her plan, the hackers repeatedly went online hacking into the website of her restaurant chain, Taoranju, changing the home page and removing links.

What we see here is an example of a cyber terrorism. People may see cyber threat as not so dangerous but here, someone's life and career is destroying or may have been destroyed. So internet can be dangerous when people use it the wrong way. Anything can be dangerous when the wrong people with the wrong thinking use it the wrong way.
